Meta is rolling out its AI Studio in the US for creators to build AI chatbots

Meta said Monday that it is rolling out its AI studio to all creators in the U.S. to let them make personalized AI-powered chatbots.

The company first announced the AI Studio last year and started testing it with select creators in June this year. Meta is making the tool available to all creators, who can use their own prompts or suggested templates to build a chatbot.

Users can build the bot for caption creation, post formatting, or meme generation. You can use the chatbot just for yourself or share it with anyone. These chatbots work across Meta properties, including Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and the web.

Meta also sees the AI Studio as useful for creators who want to build chatbot versions of themselves for fan engagement. Creators can control the topics and links they want the chatbot to avoid. Plus, they can turn auto-replies off and control who their AI replies to.

“Instagram creators can set up an AI as an extension of themselves that can quickly answer common DM questions and story replies. Whether it’s sharing facts about themselves or linking to their favorite brands and past videos, creator AIs can help creators reach more people and fans get responses faster,” the company said on its blog post.

Mark Zuckerberg has talked about this use case multiple times in the last few months. He thinks that these AI avatars of creators can help them meet their “business objectives” of community outreach.

“I think there’s going to be a huge unlock where basically every creator can pull in all their information from social media and train these systems to reflect their values and their objectives and what they’re trying to do, and then people can can interact with that,” Zuckerberg told internet personality Rowan Cheung in an interview last week.

“It’ll be almost like this artistic artifact that creators create that people can kind of interact with in different ways.”

Beyond creators, Meta also aims to deploy custom AI bots for businesses to handle incoming customer queries across its apps.
